Honoring a True Hero

Grandpa is a decorated WWII vethe’d been a POW. He moved to Artis at the age of 101. The team at Artis said they wanted to plan something special to honor and welcome him, so they reached out to the VA. We were astonished on move-in day to be greeted by three generals, 25 uniformed soldiers, two town selectmen, two state representatives and five local veterans! The generals each gave Grandpa a special commemorative coin. He was moved beyond words. I don’t know how Artis did it, I’m just in awe they did. They gave this proud old soldier the tribute of a lifetime.
